Michelle was born with Thrombocytopenia Absent Radius (TAR) Syndrome which causes her arms to curve inward at the elbow due to the absence of the radius bone. Currently, Michelle is completing her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI. Undeterred by her physical limitations, Michelle loves running and lifting weights, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. Her passion for advocating for individuals with disabilities has been reflected through speaking at local hospitals and universities in West Michigan. Despite difficulties Michelle has faced, she believes strength and beauty come from within and the most powerful thing a person can do is share it with the world. Michelle is excited to be a SheLift girl and share her knowledge and experiences of living with a disability to young girls who feel no one else understands the difficulties we face each day.
